Announcement of the IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter Thesis Awards

The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter is pleased to announce the list of recipients of the 2019 IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter Thesis Awards

The Chapter would like to congratulate the Award Winners for their excellent work.

The Best Thesis Awards are intended to support students involved in the areas of interest of the Antennas and Propagation, Electron Devices, and Microwave Theory and Techniques Societies, and their selection is based on the relevance of the thesis within the associated fields of interest, and on its creativity, innovative content, and quality. To be eligible for the 2019 Edition of the award, each applicant had to be (i) a Master’s or PhD student having discussed his/her thesis on one of the topic of interest of the Antennas and Propagation, Electron Devices, and Microwave Theory and Techniques Societies at an accredited institution of higher learning in Italy between 01/11/2019 and 31/10/2020, (ii) if competing for a doctoral award, to be a student member/member of the IEEE AP-S or IEEE ED-S or IEEE MTT-S at the time of application, and (iii) to have the endorsement of his advisor, who must be a university/college faculty member who is also a member of the IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter.

Moreover, the Chapter would like to thank the Award Evaluation Committee, composed by Prof. Vincenzo GALDI (Università del Sannio), Prof. Marco Donald MIGLIORE (Università di Cassino e del Lazio Meridionale), and Prof. Luciano TARRICONE (Università del Salento), members of the IEEE MTT-S/AP-S Central-Southern Italy, for their invaluable contribution, and all the applicants for their participation and commitment.

This award recognizes the Chapter’s contributions and outstanding service to MTT-S members, technical activities, societal activities, educational activities, membership advancement, and Fellow and award nominations.

2016 IEEE AP-S Schelkunoff Award announcement

has been awarded the 2016 IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award

The Sergei A. Schelkunoff Transactions Prize Paper Award is presented to the authors of the best paper published in the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ANTENNAS AND PROPAGATION during the previous year. The award was previously known as the ‘Best Paper’ and was renamed in 1985.

The award will be present at the IEEE APS/URSI Symposium Awards Ceremony on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at 5:30 pm in Grand Atlantic Ballroom Salon 2, The El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.


Prof. MACI recipient of 2016 IEEE AP-S Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award

PastedGraphic-1The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter is pleased to announce that Prof. Stefano MACI (University of Siena) is the recipient of the 2016 IEEE Antenna and Propagation Society Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award

“For extraordinary impact in high-level education in the Antennas and Propagation community through the European School of Antennas ”

The Chen-To Tai Distinguished Educator Award was established in 2000 by the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society, and it is given annually (if a qualified candidate is nominated) to recognize outstanding career achievements by a distinguished educator in the field of antennas and propagation. The criteria considered by the AP-S Awards Committee include excellence in teaching, involvement with and direction of students to prepare them for effective careers in Electromagnetics, curriculum development with inclusion of current research and knowledge that reflects the state of the art in courses, and authorship of research and course material.

The Award will be presented at the IEEE APS/URSI Symposium Awards Ceremony on Wednesday June 29, 2016 at 5:30 pm in Grand Atlantic Ballroom Salon 2, The El Conquistador Resort in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.

Call for Nominations: 2015 EDS Student Fellowships

The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter is pleased to announce that applications for the 2015 PhD and Masters Student Fellowships of the IEEE Electron Devices Society are now open. These awards are presented annually to promote, recognize, and support graduate and masters level study and research within the EDS field of interest. For both Masters and PhD, it is expected that at least one fellowship will be awarded to a student in each of the following geographical regions: Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia/Pacific.

Prize: US $2,000 (Master)/ US $5,000 (PhD)

IEEE AP-S Research Awards are open

The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter is pleased to announce that applications for the 2015-2016 Pre-Doctoral/PhD Fellowship Research Awards are now open. The IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (AP-S) awards up to six $1000 pre-doctoral scholarships and up to ten $2500 PhD fellowships each year to encourage students to pursue a career in the area of Electromagnetics.

2015 Raj Mittra Travel Grant are open

The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter is pleased to announce that applications for the 2015 Raj Mittra Travel Grant are now open. Two 2015 Raj Mittra Travel Grants exist to partially support travel by one young and one established doctoral scientist to attend the 2015 IEEE International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation and URSI CNC/USNC Joint Meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, July 19-25, 2015.

Call for Nominations: IEEE Fellows (Class 2016)

The IEEE AP/ED/MTT North Italy Chapter is pleased to announce that nominations for the IEEE Fellows Class of 2016 are now being accepted by IEEE. Nomination of a colleague, coworker, or friend whose career and body of work you consider eligible for elevation to the IEEE Fellow grade is strongly encouraged. The applications must be submitted online.

Deadline: 1 March 2015.
